Meet the pastor sponsoring this family

Rosa Elvira Uyu Chicojay
Pastor of:

Hello. My name is Rosa Elvira Uyu Chicojay, and I am the pastor of Iglesia Evangelica Ebenezer de Mt. Belen. I have been serving in ministry for 12 years. Our church puts a large focus on teamwork. We have prayer meetings once a week in different places around the community to pray and give thanks to God. Our goals as a church are to build a baptistry as well as to build a park for the children in our community. I desire for our church to work as a team to share God’s word and to grow our church in order to share the blessings from Casas por Cristo.

Welcome Video

Hello. My name is Chris Pearson, and I come from South Dakota with my beautiful wife, Michaela, and two precious daughters, Emersyn and Adrienne. I first heard of Casas por Cristo when I was talking to my pastor about my desire to go into ministry, and he encouraged me to go on a Casas trip with our church. While on that trip in 2018, I really felt this was God’s call on my life. After months of prayer and talking to mentors, God confirmed the call for me when my wife told me she wanted to pursue this, too. It has been incredible to see Him orchestrate things in our lives in order to prepare our hearts for missions, open the doors to this incredible opportunity, and build our faith as we take this step. I am honored to serve Him by building His kingdom- one house at a time.

Welcome Video

Hi, my name is Michael Vo. I interned with Casas in the summer of 2016. I told myself I was going to come back for a second internship, but I ended up going home and getting involved with my home church's youth group! I served as a small group leader for middle school boys. I felt like I was needed at the church, so I decided to stay home and not return for another internship with Casas. I played college baseball for a year and a half, and while that was going on our youth pastor left, and the youth group fell through. Not knowing which direction to take, I spent a lot of time in prayer and community. At the same time, Casas por Cristo kept appearing in the back of my mind. I realized that from the time of my first internship until now, I was ignoring God's call. I can tell you now with confidence that I am here to serve this organization with all of me!
