My name is Kaitlyn Upton, and I am a vet student at Texas A&M pursuing a career in zoological medicine. I am originally from Corpus Christi, Texas. I grew up going to Laity Lodge Youth Camp which is where I found the Lord. Through this camp, I went on my first mission trip to Haiti when I was 16, and it changed my life. After high school, I went to Texas Christian University and graduated in 2017 with a degree in Biology. After graduation, I went on the World Race, an 11-month mission trip to 11 different countries (Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Indonesia, the Philippines, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Ukraine, Moldova, and Spain). During my time at TCU, I was introduced to Casas por Cristo through my church and campus ministry. My first build was in 2015 in Guatemala, and I have been building in Acuña, México ever since. After going on the World Race and starting professional school, I felt like the Lord was leading me to apply for the Casas internship. I had first heard about it in 2015, but it was never the right time. I absolutely love this ministry, and I am excited to spend the summer serving as well as practicing my Spanish!

Hi! My name is Liz Schrader. I’m from St. Louis, Missouri, and I am a member of Webster Gardens Lutheran Church. I just finished my freshman year of college at Mizzou, where I am majoring in Journalism and Spanish. I enjoy exercising, taking photos, spending time outside, and eating fruit. I wasn’t very passionate about my faith when I was younger, but then I went on my first Casas trip to Acuña, México with my church when I was 14. God changed my life on that trip, and I became a lot more connected to Him and to my faith. After that, I went on three more trips with Casas, and I loved each one just as much. When God gave me the opportunity to be an intern, I was so excited! I can’t wait to see what God does through me and how He grows me this summer.
