Explain how you got involved with Casas and what your role is. Feel free to add more here about yourself or your responsibilities.

I first got involved with Casas by coming on a trip in 2008 with my home church. I fell in love with it and came home and applied for an internship next summer. God had different plans for me at that time, and I finally came on staff 10 years later. I am a Field Coordinator here in Juárez. I help to take care of the buildings, maintain our fleet vehicles, and make sure all the materials are delivered to the worksites.

Tell a little bit about yourself, your family, and where you’re from.

I am married to my beautiful bride, Becky, and we have two boys, Matthew and Jonathan. We are originally from Indiana where I worked as a commercial carpenter forming up concrete on large buildings. I also served as a high school youth coach at our home church, Mount Pleasant Christian Church.

What made you choose to serve at Casas por Cristo?

The construction aspect of Casas is what drew me in at first. This is a great way for me to help in showing the love of Christ to the people of México. We give the free gift of a house in the same way Jesus gives us the free gift of salvation.

What is your favorite thing about the ministry of Casas por Cristo? Or how have you seen God at work through your ministry with Casas?

To see the before and after of the building process is really neat. When you think about it, it really is a miracle that people come and help out a stranger to help make their life better, asking for nothing in return.

What have been your biggest challenges so far?

The most challenging things for me so far have been learning Spanish, working on a computer, and finding my way around a new city. There is more for my family and I to explore, but we don’t have time. We trust in God to provide these things as time goes on.

What are some things people should be praying for on your behalf?

Pray that my family adjusts to El Paso, that I can show God’s love, and to trust in Him to work in my life and in the lives of others.
