Tell a little about yourself, your family, and where you’re from.
I am from the town of Monroe, LA, where I also attended college and studied Construction Management. This past May, my beautiful wife, Victoria, and I just celebrated our 1st anniversary! We are still adjusting to life here in El Paso, but we are loving being close to the mountains!
What made you choose to serve at Casas por Cristo?
I felt that God was calling me to do a summer internship with Casas in 2014. That summer changed my life! I got to spend 12 weeks building homes for families in need. This is when God really started to grow in me a passion for missions, serving, and sharing the Gospel. After that summer I felt that God was calling me into full time ministry. Towards the end of 2017, my wife and I had been praying about the possibility of coming on staff, and when this opportunity came up, we decided to make the move!
What is your favorite thing about the ministry of Casas por Cristo?
I love the fact that I get to work at a place where God brings together all of my passions! I have always loved building and working with my hands, and here I am able to help others, share the Gospel, and work with teams from all over the US. I love being able to be a part of the life change that happens in both the team members who come to serve and the families receiving the homes.
What have been your biggest challenges so far?
Let me first say that there are lots of challenges in this line of work, but it is so incredible to see the way that God meets our needs and exceeds our expectations! I am not a natural leader so leading large groups of people in such a huge project is always a challenge, but I am really enjoying growing in this area. Leadership is one of the places where I can clearly see how God has grown me over the past few years. Quitting our jobs, moving from Florida, and fundraising my salary have all been difficult. But, again, God has been so gracious with us in those areas. Although we still continue to struggle with these at times, God has never allowed it to be more than we can bear.
Prayer Requests:
- Thank God for the incredible church family and community that we were able to quickly find here at The Anchor Church.
- I am in the process of studying and trying to grow my Spanish so that I can better communicate with those I serve. So, please pray that I would pick it up quickly.
- Please pray for us as we continue to seek financial support, that we would reach our goal quickly.
