Meet Mary Cadarette, one of our newest missionaries. After doing two summer internships, Mary took on the role of Juárez Field Coordinator. She helps manage our pastors committee meetings, family visits, tools, and materials.

Tell a little bit about yourself and where you’re from.
I’m Mary Cadarette, and I’m from a small town in Northern Michigan called Cheboygan. After high school, I attended Northern Michigan University for 3 years before I started working for Casas. The Upper Peninsula of Michigan is a hidden gem in my opinion; it is so beautiful in the UP! But, the most wonderful thing about where I went to college was the campus ministry I got involved in. It truly changed my life and helped me build a relationship with Jesus.

What made you choose to serve at Casas por Cristo?
I don’t really like the phrasing of this question, because I didn’t choose – GOD CHOSE! During my second internship with the ministry, it became clear to me that that there was a need for more full time employees. After a lot of prayer and encouragement from members of the body of Christ, I felt confident that I should put in an application. Ever since I did, God has been opening doors to make it possible for me to be here. I’m in awe of the great life He has given me.

What is your favorite thing about the ministry of Casas por Cristo?
According to the world, I’m not exactly qualified for my job. I’m only 21 years old, I didn’t get a college degree, and I have only had one other job besides this one. My favorite thing about the ministry of Casas por Cristo is that it is a channel for God to take ordinary people who may not be “qualified” and use them in extraordinary ways. In my time with this ministry, I have seen God use men, women, the young, the old, the rich, the poor, the strong, and the weak. He can truly use anybody for His glory, no matter how unqualified or undeserving we think we are.

What has been your biggest challenge so far?
My biggest challenge so far has been moving here and trying to build a community of friends and believers who will point me towards Christ. Community is so important. I know that my God is going before me and putting people in my path, but I know I’m going to have to do my part as well and put in the effort. Being an introvert can sometimes make that hard for me.

    Prayer Requests

    • Please pray that I would always be led and guided by the Holy Spirit as I serve here at Casas por Cristo.
    • Pray that God would continue to use me in mighty ways for His kingdom!
    • A more specific request that people can pray for is that I am still in need of my own truck in order to do my work here at the ministry. Please pray that God would provide!
