The Casas por Cristo Residency Program is an exciting opportunity for individuals who are interested in experiencing what it’s like working for a non-profit organization. This program is designed for individuals in a variety of situations – taking a gap year, looking for opportunities to learn outside of education, gain valuable work experience at a nonprofit, or if you’d just like to come work for our ministry on a short-term basis!
As a Casas resident, you will work directly with families in need, other staff, and available teams of volunteers as you build partnerships that give families homes and an opportunity to know the love of Jesus in a very real and tangible way. We will train you to lead teams to build homes, just as our staff missionaries do. You will be guiding a team through the Casas por Cristo experience – helping them navigate the city they’re in, introducing them to the family they are going to serve, directing them through the building process, and problem-solving on the job site. When you are not out building, you will be assisting our staff in various tasks laid out below in the job description. The experiences you will have will be a tremendous opportunity for physical, emotional, and spiritual growth.
The responsibility of a resident is to assist our staff missionaries in completing daily ministry operations tasks. This may include but is not limited to the following:
- Lead volunteer teams to build homes
- Material deliveries
- Maintenance of tool kits
- Family visits and follow-ups
- Printing t-shirts
- Loading/unpacking shipping containers
- Administrative tasks such as mail runs and bank deposits
- Maturity in Christ
- Be out of high school for one year
- Servant’s heart
- Good communicator
- Six month – two year commitment*
*The timing and duration of the residency can be flexible based on the individual’s needs.
Your housing expenses will be covered during your residency. You will fundraise your living expenses to cover food, travel, and other costs. It is recommended that you have your own transportation.
