Last week, staff in the Dominican Republic began construction on a Hope Restored home for the Gonzalez family. One of our missionaries, Nan, noted that the team was a bit short-handed on Day One, and decided to send word out that they could use a few people to help. She was overwhelmed by the community’s response on Day Two! Several office staff, local ministry partners, neighbors, and the Gonzalez children all came together to raise the walls and finish the house. It was encouraging to the team to be supported so well by their community.
Following the build, Nan remarked, “we are so thankful for our partners, churches, friends and neighbors down here. These are our people and we love them!” She was reminded of First Thessalonians 5:16-18, which says, “rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”
The support of the Hope Restored campaign has enabled Casas por Cristo to continue building homes and sharing the Gospel, even through changing circumstances. We are so grateful for the outpouring of generosity and encouragement that our ministry has received. In our efforts to continue ministering to families like the Gonzalez family, we are raising funds to support building homes for those who would have already received them under normal circumstances.
